Welcome to the website of the BurtonBKA

Latest Newsletter
Welcome to the Burton and District Bee Keepers Association website, we were formerly known as the Burton Branch of the Derbyshire Bee Keepers Association. The history of the club back then is very limited, we are not sure when the club was founded but records for our Honey Show date back to 1954.
We changed our name on the 16th of January 2017 when we attained Association status in our own right. So, we are now starting a new era and hopefully with the continual improvement in technology we will be able to leave a “History” for future generations
.
Burton and District Bee Keepers Association welcome all Bee Keepers from the enthusiastic beginner to the most educated Master Bee keeper to come and join our club, each has something to share and offer whether it be enthusiasm, experience, or both.

We have a hard-working committee and hold monthly meetings, details of which can be found on this website, we are also continually striving to improve the understanding of the Honey Bee, with education on varying levels, we aim to educate the public at every opportunity, we attend several fetes, open gardens etc. where, when possible take an observation hive of bees and have literature available with someone on hand to discuss Bees.

We run apiary meetings, study groups, and workshops for our members with a view to taking exams or just purely and simply to gain knowledge. We have a comprehensive library where members can have a book on loan, so education doesn’t have to be expensive and out of reach for anyone.
If you are not sure if keeping bees is for you or not, and would like to find out more, come along to one of our monthly meetings, or get in contact with us for a chat, we love nothing more than talking Bees.
Bee keepers come in all shapes and sizes, from 9 years old to 80+ years old, which are you?
