Burton & District Beekeeping Association was for many years (at least since 1954 according to our financial records) a branch of Derbyshire Beekeepers. We separated from Derbyshire in 2017 to become an independent area association of the BBKA, and registered as a Charitable Incorporated Organisation in May 2018. (Charity No;1178268)
We have a hard-working committee and (in normal circumstances) hold monthly meetings, and details can be found on this website. We offer education on honeybees, beekeeping and associated topics - and we aim to educate, inform, and enthuse the public at every opportunity. We generally attend local shows and open days, if possible bringing an observation hive of bees - and we have literature available and lots of information for anyone interested in any aspect of honeybees.
Our membership is principally from the Burton area but also extends widely into East Staffordshire, parts of Warwickshire, North West Leicestershire and South Derbyshire.
Events are organised for members throughout the year as detailed in the Program . From time to time we also arrange Open Meetings on a variety of subjects see Events and News for more details.
